People decry submissive Bayonetta because Hideki Kamiya specifically said he encourages Rule 34 of her but to never depict her as submissive.
"Triggered" implies way more emotion and outrage than a simple "Dude, the creator said not to do this."
I mean, feel free to do it anyway, but don't get bent out of shape if people say that the literal creator of the character specifically said not to do it. I see that as no different than an artist saying they would prefer their art not posted on this site.
Just don't act like it's some "people are idiots for being upset" thing when they're honoring the artist's wish.

Oh wow, I had no idea the creator addressed this directly.
...Still though, fanart is legally allowed to be made however the artist desires. So I'd just take a note out of Andrew Jackson's book for this one. Kamiya has given his judgment, now let's see him enforce it.
