What a difference a day makes...
Approximately twelve system hours ago, Captain Patel handpicked me for my first ever away mission. Me, Ensign Aurorabelle, and the Captain, exploring down on the surface of Omicron III together. It started off well, we were collecting some very interesting soil samples, and I even managed to say something genuinely useful and insightful! Gosh, I wish I could remember what exactly it was, but Captain Patel smiled and said I'd done a good job and-
Aaaaaah she's just so hot! How do those jammy sods on the bridge crew ever get anything done when she's right there the whole time? One compliment and I could barely think straight...
Ahem.
Anyway.
So, um. A favoured tactic for Orion pirates and slavers is to take advantage of the pheromones their females naturally produce. To use an old Earth term, it's kind of like a Trojan Horse; they disguise Orion women as escaped slaves or whatever, have them really play up the desperation and helplessness, and when a ship "rescues" them (or, in some of the more predatory corners of the galaxy, decides to take her for themselves), it brings her on board...and by the time her ship catches up to her, her pheromones have softened up the crew enough that they basically surrender without a fight.
Well, apparently, a passing Orion ship - the Viridian Chain, lovely name - picked up our away team on the surface of the planet with their scanners, and...well...they noticed Ensign Aurorabelle, aaaannnnd figured the classic Orion tactics were at work. One lone Orion life sign surrounded by humans, I can see why they'd jump to conclusions...
Before we even realised what was happening, the Chain's crew beamed down to the surface and wrestled these...neural disruptor collar thingies onto me and Captain Patel. No idea how exactly they work, but the long and short of it was they really scramble your brains. As soon as these things were on, Captain Patel's eyes went all milky white, and it was like flipping a switch, her commanding aura became totally docile and compliant...it was like she was sleepwalking or something, just quietly obeying and marching her way over to the shuttle. They were gonna take us, and the shuttle to boot!
Aaand before I could even properly appreciate the sight before me- uh, I mean, put all my cunning to use and set into motion a brilliant, heroic plan to save Captain Patel and the shuttle in the most impressive way possible - they, uh...snapped one of the things around...my...head...too...
...w-well, they got Captain Patel, and she's the coolest, smartest, most capable person I know, s-so what was I meant to do!?
They were gonna load us up onto the Chain and sell us at one of their slave markets...I...guess I should thank Rora. Apparently it took a lot of persuading to convince the Chain's captain this was all a big misunderstanding and she genuinely was a Starfleet officer.
...'course, they never would have targeted us in the first place if not for her, but...
.........maybe next time she brings a pheromoned superior officer back to our quarters, I'll spend the night on the Holodeck or something.
