[spoilers]Well, in Clementine's case she needed to stab for the charm to activate because the spell was imbued in the weapon rather than her casting it herself. Also, it may just be that she could've done it without stabbing the victim, but she's really sadistic, so it's not surprising if she opted not to.

Charm magic is used a little bit throughout the series, like when Shalltear charms Brita in Volume 3 of the LN or another bit in Volume 11. In those instances the person charming could use the magic without the need of any items, so they didn't need to cause any harm to them.

So charm magic can be used without stabbing, but only if the person knows how to cast it or has an item with can do so without needing to hit them.[/spoilers]

Never thought I'd see her here. To be honest, I'm definitely no Clementine fan, but I'm ok with this because she got absolutely blown the fuck out by Ainz, and because she was killed so gruesomely, and died so pathetically, I'm not bothered by her anymore. Though I've heard she comes back in the light novel, I've only watched the anime and read the manga so I wouldn't know.

Funny thing learning about her makes me think of a character I played in a few RPGs and reused as a boss. Just hearing her name made my players nervous.

Though she's not this level of evil.
