The only way out is by continuing to have the discussion. At least you can here, rather than raging away in some self-imposed echo chamber. Lord knows we have enough of that already,
sigh~To be fair, some people simply don't want too much drama, and they decide to go on, leaving a place that, for one reason or another, is merely not for them anymore. I'm an example of this: while I could easily blacklist some specific topics about AI from some of my past favorite Reddit communities, I still remember how poorly they treated me for being an AI enjoyer that I simply struggled to move over (after calling my mother a "courtesan", which has always been a weakness of mine), so I simply moved away. I can't be mad with the past if it doesn't show up in my feed anymore.
SingleSalt could have this exact same reason, and I don't blame them one bit: far more passionate people, more competent people out there to continue a "confrontation" (which can quickly turn into a "throwing shit" fest, most of the time) on this topic while others simply see something either as a tool or as something it's not worth eating your life out of negative feelings about when there are plenty other things to do with their day.
If they decided to quit it without making a grand display out of it, I 100% respect their decision. If that helps their well-being, it's the best course of action.
