Why would Erickson be redeemed? She's a villain who is being used by a more powerful villain, that doesn't absolve her own conduct.

The narrative of the comic, as well as the general fan reaction to the character, acts like she was redeemed but never fully addresses the negative consequences of her actions or suggests she's remorseful (and Aima intentionally kept her from having any character development over it in the first place)

I don't think anything in the comic implies redemption. I think it implies she has her class, aside from Crystal via Aima, completely wrapped around her finger, including (*) [I have deemed this to be their name], as implied by Aima's first victory over her, where she specifically says she will not be protecting (*), only Crystal, from Erickson's continued hypnosis of her students.
As for the fans... fans are horny for hot teacher doms. People liking her isn't them liking her because she was made not bad, they like her because S E X Y T I M E W I T H T E A C H E R L A D Y
