"You're pretty good" the voice came over her headphones.

It did suck to play First Person Shooters on XBL with the speakers on. But she did enjoy hearing people scream out obscenities and get a dose of rage-a-hol when she revealed her gender and applied it to her talents. It was stunning how many idiots still thought women couldn't play games.

This game wasn't fun, though. Last time she got a good bit of laughter in at a kill some idiot hijacked the channel and was playing some stupid eurobeat club music over the speakers. Occassionally breaking through the music to comment on the proceedings.

She'd have quit the channel due to this but damned if she wasn't on a roll.

"So am I the only one who comes to play this game to relax?" "I just find it so much easier to unwind after a long day of work when I waste a few hours on a game like this" "The hours can just fly by in the blink of an eye" "I play so much better when I'm in the zone, when I'm just so focused on playing that everything fades away..."

She had stopped paying attention to his obnoxious voice and the thick and rich beats pounding in to her ears. She was too focused on the game. Sure she got killed every now and again.

"---and you'll find yourself stripping off one article of clothing for every time you're killed---"

But she bounced back in with fierce focus and a renewed vigor.

Time lost meaning.

The sounds in her ears become empty noise.

Even the scores and the game itself began to disappear.

"Hey, Kaguya Kills?"

Hmm?! She snapped back to reality. The music had stopped. The channel was clear again.

"Want to add me as a friend and talk? The game's winding down. Stay on after everyone's gone, alright?"

"I would love that" she responded automatically with no emotion in her tone.

"Alright. Then good game everyone. Goodnight"

And the channel filled with empty voice after empty voice droning "Good game" before signing off.

...and then there were only two people left in the room.
