For a lot of people on this site kaa was the first interaction with hypnosis.

And Harry Potter my first interaction with modern fantasy but I'm not obsessed with Harry Potter. Quality-wise, Kaa is rather lackluster and really we could all do better than simply 'rings in the eyes coils on the body', *especially* when using other characters.
