Not really sure what the artist is going for, but the King in Yellow is a book of spooky short stories by Robert Chambers in the late 1800s. In that book, The eponymous "King in Yellow" is a mysterious character from a cursed play (I think it drives you insane if you read it? Not sure, never read the book). In recent years, the King in Yellow is often conflated with evil Lovecraftian gods, so the author PROBABLY is trying to invoke the idea of an ancient evil controlling her.

yep, the King in Yellow in this case is an Outer God that is linked to the play that can control others. And I'm the person that commissioned this.
