Sometimes the art of being a good manipper just comes down to knowing *what* to manip, and then working from there. The best images often don't need heavy manipulation because they're already good.

The original image fits the theme so well that you hardly needed to do anything (unlike some of the other stuff of yours that i've seen, where you frankly didn't do enough to make it MC), so there's really nothing you could have done. The eye work is certainly solid and there is really nothing else you could have done.

Agreed. In my experience, less is always more. The more complicated you get with your effects, the more opportunities you have to fall into the uncanny valley. It's either great, or it's just imperfect enough to draw attention to itself, in a bad way. Subtle and understated is always the way to go, and I think this was a fine job.
