I don't really understand what the tag "age progression" is here for. To me, it sound like something to tag an image with "before/after", or that show a progression/transformation steps related to age...or maybe even, with a lot of flexibility, just an image with words hinting at a character going back or forward in time in its thought age...but nothing of the sort here.

That's exactly what the tag is supposed to be used for, and looking at the posts under that tag... almost no one is using the tag correctly. It seems like a lot of people think that drawing a character "aged up," or even just bustier than normal, is age progression... which, it isn't.
If you guys ever wonder why we're so stingy about creating new tags, this is a good example. Because half the time, people can't figure out how to properly use the tags we already have.

Hmm, I suppose while I'm here, what would be the correct tag for an aged up character, or would one simply not be needed.

If it's a child character drawn grown up, the tag would be "adult". However, for teenaged characters, I don't think that tag would really be necessary, since the change isn't that great. Anime isn't exactly the best at conveying age with its character designs.

Huh, the more you know. Thanks, I'll keep that in mind for the future!
I always wanted to see aged up Monaca, Kotoko, and/or Komaru as succubi or demon girls, just cause the Warriors of Hope keep calling adults "demons" in the game. I like fetish irony.
