I think the plot for this image (since it's an alternate version) goes that if they either go back to normal or if Hondo's enslaved slaves are stolen then he will detonate them. Which is very dark to be honest.

Why did it have to be there? He could have put it anywhere. And why’d he have to use that failsafe? Wouldn’t it be better to have some chip in her head to track her down or to trigger some return function/ re enslave her? Well unless this is blackmail. I could understand if it was to threaten the girls. “Degrade yourselves or I’ll blow you up.” But then it wouldn’t be hypno. Expect maybe mind break. I don’t know. Not the best plan. But I definitely prefer this one to the other one. The heads of the other version creep me out.
