As if she wasn't sexy enough, already. Now she had to go and get herself corrupted. <3

Yeeeeup. Corrupted Patchouli is very sexy. Just wish I knew more about Touhou than the bullet hell games.

Like a storyline or something. >.>

You know people will tell you that there is no storyline but that's not really true, there's actually a lot of material out there.

That said all you really need to know about Touhou to enjoy it is that it's basically a cross between Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and K-On.

Okay, that's a decent explanation. I'll just look up the rest on a Touhou wiki or something.

There's a story for each of the games. Though it pretty much comes down to something weird is happening, heroine goes to find out what, fights, and now everyone are friends. There are some official manga for Touhou too, but it's mostly random comedy without much plot. (Silent Sinner in Blue has most plot out of them all I think.)

I wasn't trying to be mean ;_;

Have you played any of the shooters yet? If you haven't don't worry about playing them in order. Imperishable Night is probably the best one to start. It has awesome music, great characters, a half-comprehensible story, and it's probably the easiest. I think Stage 4 Powerful is one of the best designed boss fights I've ever seen in any game, and I wouldn't usually say that about a Touhou game. (It's also the only shooter I've ever beat :p )

If you have then I'm sorry and the fighting games are usually a good way to go deeper. They are way easier than the shooters and they have a ton of characters. After that it's pretty much just look up characters you like on the wiki, read doujinshi, look at 4koma and stuff.

(Large infodump on offical stuff outside the games here, spoilered so it doesn't ruin everyone's comment feed)
There's lots of official content outside of the games, but you don't need to read any of it to understand the basics. Most of it is pretty slow-paced and whimsical. It's all pretty laid back... You can tell it was written by an alcoholic with roots in Shinto and Zen Buddhism. There are a few novels focusing on Reimu and Marisa's shopkeeper friend (who is one of the few male characters in Touhou), some field guides that are pretty funny and interesting, and a couple of manga.

Off the top of my head there's Silent Sinner in Blue, which like Cradily said has some plot and action but is disliked by a lot of people for being slow-paced in a bad way and being kind of dissatisfying. It's accompanied by a short novel that is a lot better than the manga in my opinion. There's a couple of manga about the Three Fairies side characters which are total comedy and a gag manga about the Imperishable Night characters that is probably non-canon. There's Wild and Horned Hermit, which has the best art out of all the official manga and introduces Kasen Ibara, who's the best character from outside the games (this is objective and in no way my personal opinion). It's kind of hard to describe. It has a little drama, it has some comedy. And there's that new one about the bookstore girl (Forbidden Scrollery?) that is a lot like WAHH.

Zun's official albums also come with some short stories about a pair of college girls from the real world who visit Gensokyo. They're kind of weird and philosophical in a way the rest of the series isn't, and I totally love them but they're very minor.

If you feel scared that's okay, you can still walk away

Touhou-

*eyes widen with a look of panic*
*screeches, in a parched voice*

No! Run! Now! It's too late for me! But you...must...

*calm and content demeanor returns*

-is a lot of fun. I enjoy my fandom of the series, because the characters are just generally awesome. You should definitely learn more about Touhou.

@petal

I know, I know! Sorry if what I typed came off weird. I'm not scared, just curious. I'm honestly interested, but its not enough for me to delve right into Touhou, which is why I have all these questions. Thanks for all the info, though.
