Then here is a tip: Use colors that are easy to read. Red on dark colors is actually painful :(

Not so here, I'm afraid. It was borderline painful for me. Statistically speaking, red is the most difficult color out of all possible colors for the human eye to read when used for a font. Use a contrasting color to the background, but avoid red when possible. Additionally, this may be my own preferences talking, but you may want to elaborate on how the boy entranced the girl to begin with, what method he used, and perhaps also the girl's experience within the trance.

It requires alittle more focus unless you go a decent zoom on

It's really not a question of it being hard to read, but more of a question of how easy on the eyes it is. A more subdued color palate with the same contrast would be perfectly readable.

It's not just your preference. I honestly wish there was a "No Context" tag, sometimes.

Me too, actually. The method is almost invariably more interesting than the result. (Similarly I kind of wish 'maledom' would stop getting tagged on pictures with no visible hypnotist and no indication in the text of the 'tist's gender, in a semi-relevant aside.)
