Yeah, the IDW comics had an arc that lasted way too long where Eggman makes a good that turns people into 'zombots', which if touched turn you into one, and are immune to being damaged.

I see, thanks. I remember watching some youtube miniatures where there was characters full mettalic and others being "metallized" (and shadow being edgy) that would be the arc xD.

The Metal Virus was based on a cheat code in Sonic Heroes that turned all the playable characters metal, so you might've saw that.
Shadow was also pretty edgy and dumb during this arc but Sega has dumb mandates for him.
