Both characters are original to this comic as far as I can tell. There's no frame of reference to how strong her kick is or how tough he is, as neither character has established feats from other resources.

Also, it's not deus ex machina if it's consistent. His gimmick is having a boatload of various mind control devices, and he's been using it all comic long.

Her powers all cost willpower, which makes her defeat more or less inevitable in this situation. A mind controller is exactly the most difficult opponent she could face since both her own power and his attacks are draining the one resource she needs to keep functioning.

She could probably lose to someone just casting the same mind control spell on her repeatedly until her willpower is drained. But I think being hit with a variety of different devices is a more interesting way to have the battle play out.

honestly the only issue I have with this comic is the Lasso of Truth being asspulled like it's a Macguffin to conveniently explain her powers. like of all the gadgets this bozos got, why does he have the Lasso of Truth of all things? it's a weird bit that I shouldnt be so hung up on but dammit man that one thing just *bothers* me for some reason.
