My favorite scene is whenever Mikan gets abused. Her squeaky anime voice makes her pain sound funny.

This is the dumbest anime ever made. It's only made popular because of the hypnosis but what the anime is about is trash.

Hypnosis had nothing to do with the popularity. Dangabronpa was popular from the first game, and thwre wasn't explicit mind control stuff there.
It was popular because of the detectice format about trying to resolce misteries.
