The forces of the divine dragon and of the fell dragon. There is a main source power called the emblem rings. Inside there is housing the souls of the previous lords of the Fire Emblem series. The fell dragon (Sombrom) can corrupt them and make them doing what he wishes. Alear, the main protag, became over the story also like the rest of the emblem rings. Therefore, she could get corrupted when she got defeated (therefore why she is red).
The other woman Veyle has a second personality she won over before. The crown corrupt her too and made her evil personality come out again (and making her more mature lol).
As an result:
Alear is a corrupt Emblem forced to do what evil Veyle wants (hence the ring on her finger).

This merely leaves the question: "So what happens now?" (Usually you add 'Gloat?' to that, but he is.) Everyone's dead, it's not clear if anything's going on...

Sombron would just kill them and move on, but he spends probably 1k years waiting for Alear to wake. With Veyle its ambiguous as to whether this is a new personality, or the remains of her personality
