The fact that NOTHING in the Palaces reflected on the real world except for stealing the Treasure felt actually bullshit. GO FULL PSYCHONAUTS, ATLUS. STOP BEING PANSIES ABOUT IT.

To be fair, in the anime at least, (as lackluster as it was) we did sort of see exactly that.

The Phantom Thieves acting on things in Shidos palace made him paranoid, and that change in behavior tipped off Akechi that the Phantom Thieves were still active.

That did happen in the game too. Shido starts to cut his connections because of what you do in the palace.
