@Flesh I chose Blender as my software to use because it's free, and there are lots of tutorials for it on YouTube for any problem you could ever face. Plus for these illustrations, I don't actually need to be very good at Blender as a whole, I just need a basic understanding of posing armatures and some crude modeling skills to make maps to put them in. I'd also recommend taking a glance at lighting principles, because flattering lighting is very important in this context. It can be the key to making a character look attractive.
