Yeah I mean, all the villains in this new pokemon are competent, that's a nice contrast with team rocket being just a joke.

To be fair, Jessie, James, and Meowth were competent. They just were not competent around Ash.

Remember how many times their schemes worked? The answer is a lot, the problem is that they kept losing the rematch.

Or what about Unova? They were doing some super spy shit there.

Heck, they somehow manage to always perform some decent temp work no matter where they go.

Heck, they just flat-out WON in Alola and Ash got bailed out by Bewear.

The Team Rocket Trio basically embody Crouching Moron Hidden Badass, their consistent losses against Ash and company make them look like morons, but in other situations, you can clearly see them shine
