I believe it is quite the opposite. If you read through the other logs, it is pretty obvious that the captain has been purposely getting incompetent or dangerous crew members enslaved away from prying eyes to avoid the risk of confronting them. the two tourists described here are almost certainly the two missing crew members, most likely sold to the slavers in exchange for the headphones so the captain can use it on any disloyal crew members.
