So there are drone hives in Masilaw, and it's pretty common to see a bunch of drones walking around the city doing tasks. Most drones are used for manual labor that doesn't require too much thinking, deliveries, moving boxes, etc.
Some more advanced drones (Either human or robotic drones, they have different hardware but same software.) can also work in construction, work a cash register, or serve as customer support.
Essentially drone hives and companies sell labor. Whatever you need, they probably have a drone you can rent for a day or more.
You can even become a drone!
Most hives or drone-centric establishments can hire you even if you have no experience at all! You'll have to just spend a few days in their employee training program (It's usually a brainwashing pod, where they empty out your head and replace what's in it with information about what job you are assigned to.)
The usual mode of business is a 2-3 month contract where you give permission to be turned into a drone and they can do whatever they want with you. You get Saturdays and Sundays off, but you'll constantly be in drone mode Monday through Friday, and you get paid a salary by the end of the month. You usually don't remember anything from the time you are activated.
Longer contracts exist but are more complicated to approve due to the DHMC.
The DHMC watches drone hives carefully since a lot of hives can just rewrite memories or program their employees to be satisfied with their arrangement. Plus drone hives are an easy way to make people "Disappear" All you need is a forged indefinite contract, and that person is as good as gone.
One such company that has a history with this is Fluffle Industries, a Drone/Robotics company that specializes in Bunny-themed drones and machines. Fluffle Industries has had numerous lawsuits levied against it, but due to its place as a top player in the drone and hypnotic tech industry, it can make a lot of those problems disappear, it's hard for the DHMC to enact any changes.
