Does this qualify for the "hypnotized hypnotist" tag? Someone under mind-controlling influence is controlling others, but it does not involve hypnosis and there is no original controller.

that's a tough question.... that I'm not prepared to answer. If, instead of an infection, it was a hypnotizing robot that all the scientists made, would it be more clear?

Yes, because nothing would imply the robot was any more hypnotized than any other robot ever made.
