I could talk for way too long about why I like this part (and I kinda did with Mustardsauce once), but Ill sum it up like this:

This part doesnt treat Cynthia like a jobber; she manages to corner Ash multiple times, despite him being able to grant any wish he desires, due to her intellect and skill, and she nearly won in the end. It also sets up a decent reason for how someone this competent could lose to someone like Ash; arrogance. While she did have other reasons for not immediately undoing his wishes, she only stayed behind to prove a point. She wrote him off (somewhat justifiably) due to beating him with ease in their Pokemon match, her own position as the strongest Pokemon champion to ever live, and Ashs obvious shortsightedness. He didnt even notice that the pearl was missing when he woke up, and didnt think to just use it on himself until Cynthia spells out how and why she beat him. Ash uses this underestimation against her because hes well aware of how much of a threat she is, an amount of respect that isnt mutual in the slightest.

Even with her dropping the ball multiple times, she still nearly won at the end, which is quite the feat given Ashs powers. But had she actually taken Ash seriously, the confrontation would have never happened in the first place.

To be fair, this is probably extremely OOC in comparison to what canon Cynthia would do in this situation. But if Mustardsauce went with that, the story would just be over. I think this works quite well for a story about Ash collecting women as sex slaves because he found a wish granting orb.

TL;DR: She fumbled, but at least she didn't job.
