Real talk, though, her statement is usually correct.
It is not: while Existentialism does have basis on Nihilism, the emphasis on the importance of personal choice and of building your own character in a world where morality and right and wrong are relative, is very antithetical to Nihilism: as a Nihilist would declare all of that meaningless, while Existentialist would say it matters because we choose that it matters.
If anything, I would say Idealism is an ideology extremely close to Nihilism, even if most people don't quite agree on that, because the whole concept that reality is actually shaped by your ideas/dreams is actually really, REALLY bleak when you stop and think of the implications: anything you do amounts to nothing if just one thought can undo it all.
