Honestly, I think their mind probably broke the first night. Standing in one place, staring forward all the time and never blinking, having to hear Iris shout "I'm such a kid!" every hour. Add on top of that the fact their failure pretty much doomed the world, you'd have to have a pretty strong will power to not go mad

honestly what ash did to iris might aswell be gore, like if he wished for iris to sliced in half and we got tho see her corpse i'd say it would be just as gross looking and shocking as what actually happens to her
