I've watched the actual anime where the game you've played comes from, and for Carly, Misty, and at least one other Dark Signer, it is mind control that manipulates feelings of despair, anger, loneliness, and desire, resulting in corruption.
Carly literally died from that a**hole psychic duelist, and her despair before dying at not being able to tell Jack how she felt about him led to her being resurrected as a Dark Signer. I believe Misty died as well and was brought back, and blamed her death both on the Psychics' leader and Aki. Yusei's friend (the former leader of Team Satisfaction) fell into loneliness and anger at Jack, Crow, and especially Yusei. As a Dark Signer, Carly even tries to mind control and corrupt Jack into joining her as a Dark Signer through showing him visions of the two flaunting their power and ruling together.
And as HypnoDragon mentioned (and is something widely accepted by the MC community), corruption is a form of mind control. Many times its a side-effect or intended effect of mind control, but even corruption through one's desires, anger, or despair causes like effects to mind control.

I'm currently addicted to Arc-V. but in the case of Misty... all she seemed to have was her own anger and frustration that she was running off of when she died, similarly in the case of Kallen. Yes, I'll admit that there were moments that they were mind controlled, and while the likes of Carly and definitely Kallen were more directly corrupted to focus on it, Misty was focused on vengence from the very start for a good reason.
It's not if corruption should be here. Corruption is my fave fetish. But if this picture, in context, is one of corruption.
