I don't exactly watch this, but I'm going to guess she's hypnotized to play against someone she normally wouldn't?

It's episode 18 and 19 if I remember, for a teacher was being controlled.

Something like that. I recall that the teacher was manipulating her to get access to some kind of Spirit World for reasons that weren't really well explained. The early arcs of 5D's were kinda disjointed and weird.

The Professor... Frank! Professor Frank hypnotized her to enter into the Spirit World, along with himself. But then the forest said "no" and made her win because it like didn't tolerate conflict or destruction or something like that.
