That depends on your definition of not having hypnosis; they were clearly affected by the belief that the air would do that to them. So, you could say it's more hypnosis than before because it was entirely the power of suggestion.

or maybe it was still hypnosis, all the skeletons and stuff were there and setup, for a reality TV show on the planet, pbviously revolving around sex, so the planet setup aphrodisiac gas etc etc, and the skeletons were the contestants of last series TV show...or something

That's actually one of the most realistic examples of mental suggestioning here. They were "hypnotized" by their own brains to think their libido was increasing. Our brains do that all the time when we badly fear or want something.
