To be fair, FF seems to have a need to slap as many belts on their characters as possible. IF they were this fat they'd have an actual function.

You mean Nomura has a fetish for belts and adds them to his character designs. He isn't the ONLY character designer at Square (however he is the most prominent one as of late)
