The Spiral Effect is layered over the pre existing eye instead of replacing it. That's...weird to look at

Would other people prefer the eyes to be solid spirals? I've only been doing it as semi-transparent as i also do this with real life images and it looks better on those, this is the first time ive attempted these on drawn pics so i guess i am new to it.
