IIRC, the pink bunny form is canon from Link To The Past. WHY the Dark World turns Link into a pink bunny specifically has not been explained to me.

Well, its supposed to turn your body into the opposite of what you are in your heart. Greed turns people into monsters, Link's innocence turns him into a harmless bunny. Although those who follow the timeline concept say the rabbit form is a corrupted mockery, while his wolf form is the true inner self of Link.

Although in pics like this, his rabbit form might suggest another metaphor. x3

Um...not quite. The Dark World (which is the Sacred Realm corrupted) turns you into an outright reflection of your inner self. That's why greedy people turn into Pig monsters and Link turns into a rabbit due to his innocent nature.

And the Wolf form from TP is unrelated to the Sacred Realm. When people from the Light Realm are exposed to Twilight they lose their physical forms. Link is protected due to the divine power of the Triforce of Courage, and assumes a form that represents said Courage, i.e. a Wolf.
