this might be a disturbing analysis
more likely the fruit either causes water retention or swelling to make the victim more enticing to the end host, much like the parasitic Leucochloridium worms do to snail eyes, which I presume is the "kaa" snake - there must be something in their digestive tract that completes the fruits' life cycle, and of course does minimal damage to the snake
