Despite all of that, I've always wanted to know more about the Touhou lore and world. Any recommendations for how I can learn about Touhou without playing bullet hell games?
Also, your art is so quaint and charming. I know it's selfish but I wish you'd post more often. :)

I could never get into bullet hell games. It has two of the things that I hate the most right in the title!

There are also official fighting games and mangas. There are also some fanmade animations that are very well done in my opinion (Memories of Phantasm and Summer Day's Dream). Then you can search any character of your interest on a wiki, specifically the fandom part, wich is the most informative.
And thanks =) I also wish I could post more often XD

Googling the story of each of the games (especially the earlier ones since most of the works have older characters) can be where you start. Many character interactions are made by fans and then popularized, things like the Patchouli/Alice/Marisa love triangle. There's also 'official' manga you could read, things like 'Silent Sinner in Blue', 'Eastern and Little Nature Deity' and 'Wild and Horned Hermit' come to mind.

I really like <<www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTT8VyXCiMA|this video>> because it's well-made and a re-telling of stage 4 in Imperishable Night (and uses soundtrack from the game xD)

First time I watch it. Really nice, it was a good representation of the 2-on-2. Reimu vs Marisa was epic, that's why stage 4 was my favorite on Impresihable Night =D

You can find everything you want to know about Touhou on the wiki: en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Touhou_Wiki
From there, you'll be able to learn just about everything about the lore of Touhou. If you plan on reading the stories of each game, you should know that the 6th game is technically the first, seeing as games 1 through 5 were retconned into non-existence. Enjoy!
