This does appear to be an orc, but I'm not inclined to believe the pic is based on World of Warcraft in particular.

the character of Vem, or Vemmy, was originally an OC orc from WOW....of course, plenty of the art, like many OC's diverges from that humble origin, so perhaps the WOW tag should not be included

if there was an original character clearly created from the sonic style universe and then ported elsewhere, would be include the sonic tag?

In that scenario it's clearly and visibly apparent that they're in the Sonic style, so sure. That's kind of a classic example of "tag what you see". And I agree that the WoW tag should be removed because, in this case, there's nothing apart from the arguable maybe-connection with Vem to the setting that makes it a WoW picture. Hell, if someone were searching for WoW art this would basically be an erroneous match.

This, to my eyes, is simply an orc in what looks to be Africa.
