According to the game's lore, the Witch's hat is actually a parasitic monster that may or may not kill its "victim". Need to re-read its bestiary entry, but if I'm correct this might actually warrant the "death" tag.

Please no, can't we just say the hat is enjoying the view without killing anyone?

Nope, because in the first game they used hair products that turned girls into bimbos before killing them as well.

It didn't turn them into bimbos, it made them utterly dependent on that SOB Red Mage.

It was the cologne that made people fall for Derosa (Said SOB Red mage) and super dependent on them. It was the hairpin and dye had toxic and addictive properties that pretty much corrupted them thanks to the Bloodrose Legion's work in general. (which was made from stuff they previously revered before the city's corruption to boot iirc)

The reverence bit is true, I'm pretty sure I remember the summoner in particular mocking them for it/getting far too excited about it.

Bravely Second's Bestiary entry for Witches:

Pale-skinned witches who fly through the sky on broomsticks.

[Magnolia]: Am I the only one who finds their hats disturbing? It's as if they have a life of their own, the way they twist and stare at you.

[Nikolai]: It's even worse than you imagine. The hats are the monsters, demons in disguise. They control the witches and make them do their bidding.

[Janne]: The women wanted access to powerful magic, so they signed a pact with a demon--but they didn't read the small print, and ended up as puppets.

[Yew]: They wanted power over others, but paid a price far greater than what they received.

Could go either way, I guess, but to me it sounds like they're still alive.
