Frisk is androgynous, wearing gender-neutral clothes and no one ever addresses him/her with gender-specific pronouns. Frisk could be either gender. Same for Chara.

People also tend to depict them as either gender, or just have them remain a complete enigma. But they're canonically (?) androgynous. I was going to say this earlier but I had to leave. *Insert bad pun here* (Just putting in my two cents of what I know. Not trying to argue or anything. owo;)

...God, I've become fandom trash...Is this what my life is now???

well, I was just going to replay it for fun tbh :V
anyway, you're right, it's like the legendary pokemon subject, so I'll just say people can see frisk and chara however they want :p
