I always meant to get around to reading more of the Hernandez Bros' comics. I loved the Palomar stories. But I have no idea of the order of what the current books that they're published in are.
Not the knock the picture at all, but honestly Birdland was just a weird one. Even with the sexy hypnotherapist character I just couldn't get into it. The surrealism got in the way of the porn. I actually found the stripper girl, Bang Bang's whole gimmick to be more interesting, where men that she brings off come to the verge of a life-changing or even world-changing revelation, only to lose their train of thought when they orgasm.
I'm not aware of the Hernandez Bros' comics really having any more in the way of mind control in them. They had some story called "Hypnotwist," but it was some surrealist thing where a woman walks through a very unsexy nightmare-scape. The La Llorona character in The Ti Girls I think was supposed to have some kind of hypnotic influence over people, but she just used it to make people drop their guard.

I wish they would do more of Dr. Fritz the hypnotherapist. Why create a character like that and use her so sparingly is not easy to understand. She would be better than Lara Croft, should have her own movie and tv series.

Yes and no. I guess you haven't actually read much of the Hernandez's comics? The character in general actually appears quite a bit. It's just that it's only in Birdland that she does the sexy hypno thing. She first gets introduced in the Heartbreak Soup stories as part of the characters' extended family, and it's mentioned that she's a psychotherapist. There's a later comic where someone jokes about, "Well it can't be as much of a disaster as that time she though she was some kind of therapist." So it's sort of like it was a side-story with the character who was in their Love and Rockets books.
'
If anything it's a tragedy that the character turns out to be kind of a shallow, gold-digging bitch as she gets older.
