Probably shouldn't have told Sleepy Gimp, but, I told them that their art was posted here, but I asked if they didn't mind it being posted here.

They should respond on Their tumblr.

In the meantime, I'd like to see more of this "Selene" if they allow their art to be kept here.

Creators should know, and if this was posted in front of the paywall then I don't think it will matter.

Why do you ask this creator about their work being posted here, when meanwhile, you hadn't asked for permission to manip Kittiboom's artwork some time ago...?

Everyone manips something without permission.

I REALLY want to edit this. Just so she really is happy. This version makes it seem like she was kidnapped and brainwashed.

And I hate unhappy trances.

Then do it. No one's stopping you. We already have the Russian translation. Might as well add in a happier looking version to the mix as well.

I'm not going to say anything hateful about you.

I understand that you just like the rules being followed, however, there's nothing you can do to enforce them.

I would advise we not start a big argument over something so trivial anyway.

Let's just move on. Put our differences aside, and get along.

Yet you still could have asked her, like you did with SleepyGimp. From what I could tell, she wasn't thrilled about it, but obviously didn't want to make such a big fuss over having it be removed.

Neither am I going to say anything hateful.

I'm not trying to enforce any rules here, as this situation has nothing to do with any "rules" on this site.

Really, I'm just confused by your willingness to reach out to this artist in particular for someone reposting their work here, whereas you could have asked the other artist for permission to manip their work, and yet you didn't.

I had no idea that Kittiboom had a deviantart account anyway.

When Anon_3 said that "no one's stopping you" , that's literally what I interpreted. No one stopped me.

Asking for permission to manip and informing about reposting (something different from manipping) are two different things.

I manipped a manipped repost. 111 manipped Kitti's work and and "nayldis" reposted Kittiboom's original work, BOTH users putting in the same source! And I thought that since this artist has multiple posts, I think they have an account here, so I'm going to manip their work since they most likely won't mind.

As it turns out, other people have been reposting her work from multiple sources.

Sources on the side of an image exist for a reason, as does a simple Google search for looking someone up to reach out to them.

You're right, nobody stopped you. Still never hurts to ask though.

And I guess at this point, there's not much else I can really say. If you want to keep manipping art without asking the artist's permission, you're free to do so, just like every other manipper.
I just think that if you're going to inform an artist about reposting their art, there's no reason to not do the same with the original artist of a manip. As you brought up, "Who's stopping you?"

You might want to look at the comment again. I made changes to it.

I figure that you already know how I take issue with you drawing over their artwork (specifically the lips). The only issue I had with the text manips were the removal of her signature to be translated.

As I'll keep saying, I don't see what's keeping you from just asking the original artist for either reposting or drawing over their work. From what I can see, nothing's stopping you from trying to look them up and reach out to them.

I see their work reposted on HypnoHub first. That's just my luck.

Now me being the idiot, I keep thinking that if they have more than 1 or even 5 posts, they must have an account here.

So when I think they have an account here, I decide to manip their work, and put their "original" in the source, comment in a description, possibly put in a most needed "full credit for making the original goes to "so-and-so" and call it a day.

Now if I were smarter (which I'll try to be from now on) , I would have looked at the source name first, and gone to the source page (if it's something that I have an account on and that isn't in a complete foreign language I can't understand).

Then I would have commented on the image post asking if I can manip (or alter) the image to use for HypnoHub.

I'll try to do that more often.
