Agreed. Gigantic pains in the ass when they use Bad Breath. They were a serious problem in FF9, since they could inflict multiple instant-loss ailments if you didn't have the appropriate passive abilities equipped. And I remember losing A LOT to them in FFX when I made my first playthroughs: confusion, darkness, poison, silence...pretty much locked down my party for at least three to four turns until someone broke free of confusion, and by that time, they were either dead, or they were a few hits away from dying.

Thankfully, I learned in later playthroughs when I was trying to 100% FFX how valuable Bribe was in synthesis.

I wonder if the name Marlboro was a deliberate reference to smokers' Bad Breath. Probably not, since smoking was huge among game devs in Japan back in the 80s and 90s, but i still wonder if it's ironic.

y'know, if malboro's bad breaths were *actually* like this i think i'd be a lot less inclined to dodge those AOE markers... certainly would be fun to rp a scenario like this too come to think of it
