So I went and bought myself a digital tablet, on the basis that if I'm going to learn how to draw I may as well learn it the right way the first time round. When I'm not running into software issues (which is a lot of the time) it's actually a lot of fun. A while ago Nazwa PM'd me suggesting I draw his OC Kya for practise, around the same time I also read something about anglerfish, which got my mind working, and this is the result. I'm still drawing poses from references, and the shading isn't very detailed, but I'm learning a lot. Constructive criticism or tips are appreciated.

Hmm, I think it's generally advisable even for predominantly digital artists to still do traditional sketches and suchlike with some degree of consistency just because you can 'work out' different skills that way. And I know it's a bit more boring but doing observational drawings of inanimate objects and stuff is good for learning to consider all the various aspects to stuff like light/shadow, perspective etc. Crit isn't my strongest suit tho' so I'm just gonna link you this nsio.deviantart.com/art/N...o-Human-Drawing-581708010 which another hub artist showed me a bit ago and I feel like it's a really useful lot of info for just about anyone?

There's also a thread in the forums if you're looking for feedback on particular images or overall trends in your art owo/ tho' how much response you'll get idk.

I had seen that thread, was planning to let them have a go at another drawing I made that isn't strictly MC. I do sketch all my drawings by hand first, then I scan them and do lineart and colouring digitally, I couldn't sketch digitally if my life depended on it.

Nice work! Very good first try on a tablet. Don't worry about drawing from reference. It's important and even experienced artists do it when needed. Your shading is simple but well done as well. I'd focus on the faces a bit more next time. Kya's eyes seem a bit too close together and the dom's nose and mouth could be a bit lower

Keep it up though ^^
