I don't think so. If you fell asleep and then had a hypnosis recording played, it probably wouldn't reach you. You're meant to be relaxed and then induced into a special state of sleep by the recording, and then given whatever message the hypnotist had in place.
I've done this before: You're not actually asleep, just lying down with your eyes closed, usually in a half-asleep, trance like state. If you do fall asleep in the middle of a session, then yeah, nothing about it will reach you.
