I love character arc of Farnese, but I also really miss Crazy Repressed BDSM Slut Farnese. Not only was she super interesting, but there was something about her that managed give me wood during some of the most fucked up scenes in Berserk. Also, seeing her going down a path of corruption and sin that only leads to the Apostles would have been soooo great from a story and shame-boner perspective. For all the temptation of the God Hand, the tone/themes of the story and the fucked up setting, Miura's actually gotten away with having none of the chaacters we're invested in/rooting for fuck up or do anything wrong for an incredibly long time and I feel that its a wasted opportunity.*
If anyones wondering if they should read Berserk, the answer is 100 times yes. Don't watch any of the anime or anything first, some are decent but all are pale imitations of the GOAT OG. Istrobgly urge starting with Volume Three. During the first two volumes the author was still getting a feel for the world and story, so while excellent, its tonally inconsistent and not quite on par. In addition, its chronologically half way through the story and spoils one of the most important moments in the whole thing. Volume 3 is a phenomenal start to Gut's story and you'll be glad you waited to read volume one and two (youll know when its time to go back and read them).
Anyone whos a fan of GoT, The Witcher, Akira, Samurai Jack or anything badass will love Berserk, but its a whole lot kore than that. I'd actually recommend it to almost anyone, its so much more tgan you probably thibk it is.
*I know what other fans want to say right now, but I'd ask you not to for the sake of ruining something for those who havent read the series yet.
