Bridgette has always shown that she is able to feel empathy for other beings, she was able to overcome the fear towards a frightening beast only to heal her wound; for this and many other acts of compassion, Proselyte, the entity of compassion chose her to be its host. So far the intentions of Proselyte and the "Indigo Tribe" are unknown.

Doesn't the Indigo Tribe usually only take criminals and blast their minds with compassion to reform them? Granted I don't recall if the actual Indigo Entity has a different M.O.

The Star Sapphires also use a variation on this. In one case, after a failed invasion of earth by the Sinestro Corps, the Star Sapphires captured a number of wounded female Sinestro soldiers from the battlefield and encased them in crystals made of tangible love to convert them to Star Sapphires. The only one this actually worked on before Sinestro could mount a rescue was Fatality.
