I am holding hands with the mayor’s now ex-wife. I had been lusting after her and had been lamenting her relationship with the mayor. I believe the mayor never deserved her, and that she deserved me, so I brainwashed her into loving me more than anything in the world and hating her husband with a burning passion. I picked up the ring she tossed away, as it would serve me well later. It has now been a day since the incident, and we are walking to the mayor’s office. My paw was clenched as tightly around my device as Isabelle’s paw was clenched to mine. Her tail was wagging freely, and she gave me a peck on my cheek and cooed lovingly.
We reached the door after walking for a bit, and Isabelle’s face was wrought with disgust and hatred at the plaque on the front of the entrance bearing the mayor’s name. I opened the door and Isabelle reluctantly followed behind. The mayor was there, staring at a newton’s cradle.
Wind looked up with a curious expression on his face, and then looked back at the cradle, somber and sitting straighter, seemingly not noticing Isabelle, the orange tassle on his tassle beret dangling. Of what I could see of his face, it was etched with fear, age, and grim.
“Listen, I’ve been staying silent for too long. I haven’t said enough. But I thought you should know.”
“Know what?” I said, fiercely, as Isabelle hissed.
Wind took off his half moon spectacles, huffed on them, wiped them, and then adjusted them on his snout.
“That I’m sorry. And that I was only trying to do the right thing… doesn’t excuse what I have done, however… neverthele-”
“Always the same, weren’t yeh, Wind? Talking and doing nothing, nothing!”
“I know what you are about to do with that device.”
“The device you made?!”
“The device I made to ensure a device like that would never get made again and put into the wrong hands.”
“You broke up with me when I was at my most vulnerable, and I tricked you, you absolute git! I have all the power, and you have none! Look at you, trying to act all innocent when you know you are the epitome of evil!” I gave a snort, and my angry face distorted into a twisted grin.
“I was with you because I thought I was saving your life. You told me time and time again that you would kill yourself if you didn’t have me. I never loved you romantically, but I loved you as a very close friend.” he said, gloomily.
“Any last words?”
“When you destroy my conscious, me and Isabelle’s souls will be reunited, and you will be all alone. You will also gain complete control of all the devices mysteries. By doing this you are dooming yourself to a cursed life of pain and misfortune. You will become less and less human. Everyone you love will disappear and life will be meaningless. When your body dies, there will be no soul left inside of you. You will die along with your body. And even if your soul survives, it will be halved, and someone who calls for Isabelle who will bear your mark will strike you down. You must kill it’s parents to survive. You will become a force of evil. I truly pity you, as you are a good man, just unstable. There is no reasoning for you now. I just want to tell you that I apologize for everything I have done. Farewell.”
I stood, frozen and numb. I was shaking slightly.
“B-Bullshit! N-None of this is true! You are just biding time! I will humiliate you! There will be no “you” left! Isabelle is here, but now she’s mine! Farewell as well, you cooky bastard!”
I put my ear plugs in, and pressed the button.

so can i get a summed up version of this story?
Mayor Wind (Player Character) was romantically involved with Xeno (nonhuman villager) due to Xeno forcing the relationship on the mayor. Mayor couldn't keep up the act and broke up with Xeno, making Xeno hate the mayor. The mayor then marries Isabelle, who Xeno liked a lot, and Xeno gets jealous. Xeno steals a hypno device the mayor created and uses it on Isabelle during a picnic to make her hate the mayor and want to marry Xeno. (previous manip) Then Xeno goes to the mayor's office, the mayor dumps exposition/prophecy, and Xeno hypnos the mayor, giving him an inferiority complex. After sexy times, Digby calls for Isabelle like the mayor said he would, and Xeno starts believing the mayor's prophecy. (basically, unless he kills Digby's parents, Digby will kill Xeno)
It's... very convoluted. May have mixed some of the details up, but that should be everything in a nutshell.

Pretty much, yeah. A lot of his internal thoughts seem to border on psychopathy. Plus the mayor literally says Xeno is being evil, immediately after which Xeno continues to do exactly the same things. Plus, the mind control machine in this setting seems to be equivalent to irreversible spiritual death. (still no clue what compelled the mayor to make such a machine in the first place) It's a really twisted story at this point.
