Fun fact: the writer was so proud of this book that when he died, his ashes were mixed with printer's ink for future copies. I like to think that means I've got part of a dead guy on my bookshelf.

Fun fact
Huh? That's... something I certainly didn't know.
I mean I don't want to shit on the guy's memory, but honestly it was good but not THAT good.
Still, this comic does have kind of a weird place in history, it's sort of the proto-Watchmen. Like we have a writer creating a sort of tragic story where superheroes try to fix larger problems and it doesn't work. But unlike Watchmen it's still firmly grounded in a superhero world rather than a deconstructed and more "realistic" world. Also, most of the dialogue is still sort of firmly planted in the bronze age and pretty awkward at points.
For my nitpicking it's still an interesting story and worth looking into if you're into superhero comics or just interested in their development. I just, y'know, wouldn't go that far for it.
