I still don't understand why they didn't make dangaronpa 2. Instead went straight from 1 to 3 and split 3 into 2 parts... That went at the same time. Just couldn't be bothered with. But the was hypnosis! :O
I'm glad they did, because the anime for the first game was rushed and terrible. All modern anime is is a glorified ad for a manga, game or light novel. Unless the show can stand on its own with well above average sales or it's extremely popular like Hero Academia, it'll get a 1-2 cour adaptation that's either extremely rushed, or ends on a cliffhanger. Creating an anime original 3 other than wanting to do something new was telling people to actually play the games, this last piece of content is for the fans of the series with the knowledge and love of characters you can't squeeze in 12 episodes, but in hours of game content.
They had a choice to make 2 or something completely new, and they did something new, for better or worse. 2 has a lot of stuff that wouldn't translate well as a show anyway, it's a very gamey game with its themes.
