Season 4 was boring, Season 5 a complete mess that had me question the future of the show, but baring minor exceptions Season 6 has been great so far in the talky bits, fighty bits and mind controly bits.

Honestly, I think Rwby made a huge step forward this season.

Sorry you both feel that way. RWBY was good with the first two seasons. Not great but not bad. The season 3 Finale is where it went uphill and has been getting better with every consecutive episode since, IMHO. I'm positive Monty Oum would be proud of where it is now. May he rest in peace, knowing what a great show he's created that's struck a chord with so many people.

1 - Oh this is fun/neat
2- They can't animate dogs. Good season with an extraordinarily clunky and underwhelming finale. Adam's VA is laughably bad at first
3 - Monty's death really shows. The fight choreography is not good and the updated animation isn't servicing the show well. Plot moved in a more interesting direction by the finale, but Penny's death is meaningless, and Pyrrah's leaves me not feeling much of anything. Neo and Torchwick are underutilized, the magic system begins to violently contradict itself as the RWBY team is rewriting the lore....I really like Winter and Crow, and their fight ids a highpoint of this season
4, 5 and 6 - I am grouping these together because they have the same general feel. While the quality of writing is going up with every episode, there is still this nagging sense I have that the creators are in a constant effort too re-write and adapt Monty's notes. The pacing is rather bad, but the fights and CGI go up in quality a bit from season 3, and now there are more character focused arcs. Some of this shit is just off the rails, like...a genie in a bottle is an actual plot device now. But stuff like Yang and Weiss arc's have been really interesting.
