Sam had been shocked to see how much support the Senator was gaining in the polls at the beginning of his campaign. At first, it seemed like a vocal minority was cheering him on, but as time went on it was almost like his following kept growing bigger and bigger. Sam couldn't help but feel that this surge in approval came from the influence of the Senator's smiling wife. Every time she was on screen, everyone would perk up and listen, even though she would barely say anything more than how happy she was or how much she supports her husband. Honestly, the whole thing made Sam queasy.
She had joined march in protest of this new candidate, standing firm that women wouldn't just become some trophy or object to put on display and that Michelle's views did not represent the people at large. She carried her sign and recited the chants loudly as the mass of protestors made their way towards the campaign rally for the Candidate. However, once they arrived, there was a moment when Sam saw Michelle in person for the first time. It was, odd. Sam found her gorgeous, but it didn't make her feel the same way as when she saw beautiful women. There was a different sort of desire there where instead she felt an almost jealous longing... However, before she could fully understand the feeling, the protestors were blocked off by security and Michelle was out of sight... but the feeling still lingered...
Sam hadn't been feeling like herself for a couple months at this point. She didn't go out to protests much at all anymore, and she had missed the last few meetings with her Wiccan friends. She still stayed up to date with the election of course, focusing in on the debates and televised addresses. However, she didn't feel the same as she had before, not entirely anyway. She still found herself feeling anger swelling up inside her when the Candidate said something, but then the camera would cut to Michelle and the anger would just... melt away. She was so gorgeous and seemed so happy.
In these months, Sam had noticed her normally form fitting short shorts and tanktops weren't fitting her correctly. They seemed to pinch and squeeze at curves she hadn't had before. She shrugged it off as some side effect of stress and just wore some of the other clothes she rarely wore. She was surprised how comfortable and free skirts felt... But in any case, she'd have to buy some new clothes soon, like a t-shirt that would fit her better... or a nice blouse...
Sammie adjusted her blouse subtly, she was a bit unhappy that her new bra was already feeling a little tight. However, she decided to ignore it until after her session was done. She had started volunteering at a few social functions at the Church. She wasn't attending services or anything, not her cup of tea, but she had been feeling a little distant from her old friend groups and decided she needed to seek out new social circles.
'A good woman works to join her community, a strong woman works to improve it'
It was one of those quotes that Michelle would say and it'd be buzzing around Sammie's head all week. Not too long ago, Sam had thought she was just some vapid cling-on to the Candidate, but every so often she'd surprise Sammie with some good advice that seemed to just stick with her. Additionally, Sammie couldn't help but notice what a strong woman Michelle was, not even being pregnant had slowed her down or keep her from wanting to help the community. To see that strength was inspiring, even if a few months earlier, Sam would've been hard-pressed to admit it. So she started volunteering at the Church, she couldn't do much but her brownies were a big hit at the bake sales... she didn't even know she knew how to make them from scratch.
-Present-
Samantha smiled as she greeted more people to the Voting booths. She was so excited to see so many lovely people coming out to vote! She'd been volunteering at the church for awhile and while she was at first just going for the social aspect, some recent developments had convinced her to attend a few services. She smiled shyly as she across the Church foyer to the Policeman stationed as security. He was a newer recruit and a member of the church. They'd met at one of the bake sales and, to her surprise, she found her heart flutter when he said he loved her brownies. She toyed with her hair gently, hoping it would grow quicker... After their first encounter, she had asked around the social circles in the church and found out he was single and that he liked girls with longer hair. So she started letting it grow out, which in truth was a touch overdue... her old haircut was just too... 'Alternative' for a proper red-blooded woman.

I agree, blank signs are a menace that simply cannot be ignored.
The original image had a design on it, Wrenzephr unfortunately got hounded by an Outrage mob for this. It's sad really. Can't make niche fetish art these days without someone crying "SEXIST"

You're actually wrong on the timeline there, the Deviantart page lists its upload date as the Fourth of July.

The irony being that becoming or being a patriotic, conservative Christian is presented as an ominous and insidious force in this scenario, yet the pearl clutchers never even considered how this could be offensive to anybody but themselves.
And no, it had nothing to do with pride month - it was just crybullies that wanted to get their own way, and did.

You are right.
I thought he deleted the original one and uploaded the current version on the fourth of july. I didn't know it was possible to edit post already on deviantart, it was to late at night when I read the comments Wren did after the change so I misunderstood him.

Oh, god, please don't use the word "crybullies." People were offended. They complained. Whether they were right or wrong. Maybe they were overly forceful or stooped to harassment -- I didn't see what they said. But "crybullies" is a term coined and used by some of the worst people I'm aware of and just makes me feel gross reading it.
