After class ends, Rarity says goodbye to her friends and heads to her after-school job at Carousel Boutique.. by heading in the opposite direction that would have taken her to the shopping district. As she walks her steps become more measured, unvarying, until you could swear she was letting a metronome dictate her pace. She comes to a seemingly derelict building, goes around back, and takes a key out of her purse that she did not remember she had until that moment.

Before the Boutique opens, she walks past the rows of merchandise until she finds an empty spot on the racks. Rarity nods absently to herself; this won't do. Reflexively, she flicks on the camera for this spot and strips. Rarity carefully and neatly hangs up each article of clothing, giving each item of her wardrobe the respect it deserves. Rarity does not taste the rubber in her mouth; she only vaguely remembers her manager once telling her that customers don't like chatty salesgirls. Rarity turns around, bends over, and allows herself to fall slightly backward. She feels the warm glow of a job well done. The racks are stocked and Carousel Boutique is ready to open.
